Camel Safari

Starts at 9:00 am where we will have a 40 minutes’ drive to Tanji. Tanji is inarguably the biggest fishing village in The Gambia but also has a spot for camel riding. Camels will be taken from the camel park, and they will be ridden for almost an hour down the beautiful beach.

From Tanji, we will be driving to the reptile farm in Kartong which another 40 minutes drive. The reptile farm in Kartong is home to almost 60 different species of snakes and reptiles. On arrival, we will be welcomed by a guide there who knows the reptiles and snakes very well. Their habitation, mode of feeding and lifestyles will be explained after which we will be allowed to handle some snakes.

From the reptile farm, we will stop by a local school if time permits us to explain school life in The Gambia and our educational system. From the school visit to the Paradise beach for a buffet lunch and finally drive back home around 3:00 pm in the afternoon.

Stone Circles

The Senegambia stone circle or the Wassu stone circle, which is a megalithic stone circle located in the Gambia, north of Janjanbureh and the Central River region. It spreads across a region of 30,000km2(12,000sq). They are sometimes divided in wassu (Gambian) and sine-saloum (Senegal) circle, but this is purely a national division containing over 1,000 stone circles and tumuli (1,145sites) are recorded by a 1982 study spread across an areas 350km(220mi) long and 100km(62mi) wide. The Senegambia stone circles are the largest concentration of stone circle in the world, they are an extensive scared landscape that was used for more than 1 ,500yrs. The sites were inscribed on the UNESCO world heritage list 2006.

It is one of three sacred crocodile pools used as sites for fertility rituals. Kachikally has over one hundred live crocodiles that roams the pool which are docile and don’t have appetite for humans. This is a special day tour that brings you closer to nature starting 7am up to 4-5pm. We will have a drive to Banjul and join the ferry to Barra which is a public transport hub.  We might spot some common west African animals onboard such as cows, sheep, and goats etc, and get to see some locals in their colourful dresses. This tour gives you the opportunity to learn of the typical way of life of the locals as we drive pass the villages before getting into the border of Senegal and The Gambia to check in and out at border to stamp your passport. On this tour, you will have a maximum of two hours game drive, where you might see a different species of animals ranging from giraffes, lions, hippos, and much more, including entertaining warthogs who walk on the knees and a lot more animals.
